Welcome to the P Word

Welcome to The P Word, a blog for everyone that loves historic homes. We all know that older homes have their own unique challenges. I am here to address those challenges, and to help you maintain and improve your vintage homes so that they can be enjoyed for generations to come.

My name is Shahdie Abusaeedi. I have over 25 years experience in the construction industry, working 18 of those years as an assistant carpenter and 15 years plus in historic restoration. I have worked on several historic landmarks throughout Colorado, including Denver’s Union Station, and the Colorado State Capitol Dome Restoration. Being a woman in the construction industry for so long has given me a unique perspective and I look forward to sharing that with you along with ways to take care and repair your historic home.

Our Blog posts will Feature

  • articles and tips about historic homes.
  • Recommendations for tools and products that we like to use for restoration projects
  • Friends and fellow preservationists around the country that are doing similar things.
  • Since we are proudly a woman owned company, we will also include stories about women builders and makers.

This is an interactive blog and I encourage questions and comments. If there is something you would like me to write about, or if you have great preservation techniques or stories you would like to share, please leave them in the comments below. With that said I would like to say that this is a safe place for everyone and all negative or abusive comments will be taken down at my discretion. We hope our blog will help you with your old house needs. Please follow us and share posts with your friends, so they can enjoy and better care for their homes. Like I said, if you have any questions, please leave them in the comments below. To learn more about me and my company, check out my website or find us on social media, including Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest. Thank you for joining me. Until next time.
